The BankCap investment team is comprised of a combination of dedicated investment professionals who have worked together for a  number of years, and experienced outside directors. Our Principals direct the day-to-day management and operations of our business, with key activities of our Fund directed and approved by a Fund Board of Directors comprised of our Principals and the Outside Directors described below.

Investment Professionals

+   Brian D. Jones

Brian D. Jones, Principal and Board member, has over 18 years of financial institutions and investment banking experience. Prior to co-founding BankCap, Mr. Jones served as Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Carreker Corporation, a publicly-traded bank-focused financial technology company, in charge of Strategy and M&A. From 1989 to 2002, Mr. Jones worked for Bear Stearns in Los Angeles, New York and Dallas, where he served most recently as Senior Managing Director in its Investment Banking Group, as head of its Dallas FIG office, and as a leader of its global commercial banking practice. He began his career at Touche Ross.  Mr. Jones received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Baylor University and is a C.P.A.


+   Scott A. Reed

Scott A. Reed, Principal and Board member, has over 11 years of financial institutions, investment, and investment banking experience. Prior to co-founding BankCap, Mr. Reed worked for Bain & Company, Bear Stearns (FIG Group), and most recently at Carreker Corporation, where he was Director of Corporate Strategy and Planning. Mr. Reed received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Virginia and his Master's degree in Business Administration from the Tuck School at Dartmouth College.

 


+   Steven J. Reed

Steven J. Reed, Vice President and no relation to Scott Reed, has over eight years of financial institutions, investment, and investment banking experience. Prior to joining BankCap, Mr. Reed was an investment banker for Bear Stearns and Houlihan Lokey Howard & Zukin. Mr. Reed received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Texas A&M University.

 


+   Sonja F. Buchanan

Sonja F. Buchanan, Private Equity Coordinator, has over 15 years of management and office management experience. Prior to joining BankCap, she spent ten years at Club Corporation of America, an owner and operator of premier golf courses, private clubs and resorts where she served in various capacities within the human resources department, most recently as Corporate Recruitment Manager. Prior to ClubCorp, Ms. Buchanan served as an Office Manager and Executive Assistant at Baker Hughes, an oilfield services company.

 


+   Stephanie E. Giddens

Stephanie E. Giddens, Private Equity Assistant, has two years of administrative experience. She is currently pursuing a Master of Theology degree at Dallas Theological Seminary. Previously, she worked as a Health Services Specialist for the Head Start Program. She received her Bachelor of Health degree from Texas A&M University.






Fund Board of Directors

+   Joseph M. Grant

Joseph M. (Jody) Grant has over 35 years of banking experience and currently serves as Director and Senior Advisor to BankCap and Chairman Emeritus of Texas Capital Bancshares Inc. ("TCBI").  Previously, Mr. Grant was the Chairman and CEO of TCBI, positions he held since the Company began operations in 1998. At the time of its formation TCBI was believed to be the largest start-up in banking history. He launched his banking career in 1961 at Citibank in New York City. Mr. Grant’s next role was as Senior Vice President and Economist at Houston’s Texas Commerce Bank, where he formulated and implemented the expansion strategy that formed Texas Commerce Bancshares and led to the company’s 35 subsequent acquisitions. From 1975 to 1989, Mr. Grant served in various positions at Texas American Bancshares, Inc., including Chairman and CEO from 1986 to 1989. His book, The Great Texas Banking Crash – An Insider’s Account, documents the struggles of his bank and the demise of many banks in Texas. From 1990 to 1998, Mr. Grant served as Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, and a member of the board of directors of Electronic Data Systems (EDS). He has a Ph.D. in finance and economics from The University of Texas and an undergraduate degree from Southern Methodist University, where he was an All-American swimmer. In addition to numerous civic boards, he serves on the board of Vignette Corporation. In 2001, American Banker named him “Community Banker of the Year,” a category that includes all banks in the U.S. with less than $10 billion in assets.


+   James H. Graves

James H. (Jim) Graves has over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry and currently serves as a Managing Director of Erwin, Graves & Associates, LP, a management consulting firm located in Dallas, Texas. In addition, he is a Managing Director of Detwiler, Mitchell, Fenton & Graves, a Boston-based research boutique where until May 2006, he was Vice Chairman and Chief Operating Officer. Previously, Mr. Graves worked for 11 years at J.C. Bradford & Company, a Nashville-based securities firm, where he held various positions, concluding as Chief Operating Officer and head of Equity Capital Markets. In 2000 J.C. Bradford was sold to PaineWebber (now UBS Warburg). From 1980 to 1991, Mr. Graves worked for Dean Witter Reynolds, Inc., first as head of the Energy Group and later as head of all of the industry investment banking groups in New York. He was a member of the firm’s Senior Management Committee. Mr. Graves began his career at Citibank and opened the Houston loan production office in 1974. He serves on the board of Cash America International, Inc., Hallmark Financial Services, Inc. and various private companies in which he owns a controlling interest.


+   William M. Isaac

William M. (Bill) Isaac has over 35 years of experience in the financial services industry and currently serves as the Chairman of the Secura Group (an LECG company) (“Secura”), a leading financial institutions consulting firm.  Before founding Secura in 1986, Mr. Isaac served for nearly eight years as a member of the Board of Directors of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and was FDIC Chairman from 1981 through 1985. In that capacity, Mr. Isaac played a leading role in many of the most important issues concerning financial institution supervision and regulation that confronted the government, and structured some of the most significant financial assistance transactions in the history of the FDIC. Mr. Isaac also served as Chairman of the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council and as a member of the Depository Institutions Deregulation Committee and the Vice President's Task Group on Regulation of Financial Services. Mr. Isaac, a frequent speaker before banking and other groups, writes a regular column for the American Banker. He currently serves as a member of the boards of directors of MPS Group, The Ohio State University Foundation, and The Community Foundation of Sarasota, and is Chairman-elect of Goodwill Industries of Sarasota. He was a director of Associates First Capital Corporation prior to its acquisition by CitiGroup. He has also served as a director of both American Express Bank and TransUnion Corporation.  Mr. Isaac received his undergraduate degree from Miami University and is a graduate summa cum laude of the College of Law of The Ohio State University. He was awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws degree by Miami University in 1984.
